Not long ago someone told me that they had heard that ShaleTest had stopped operating. Nothing could be further from the truth. Although, we have went through some positive changes, we are still very active in performing environmental testing around the United States. We expanded our board,with John Fenton and Kari Matsko, in addition to Tim Ruggiero, Susan Sullivan and myself.
As some of you may have heard, I have successfully ran for public office, and therefore have taken a step back from the day today operations. Over the past year we had hired Deb Thomas to serve as our executive director. Deb has thus far has done great and far reaching work on behalf of the organization. Although most in our circles know Deb well, if you would like to know a little more about her, you can read about her here:
Deb has expanded our work considerably, we have accomplished work in the Marcellus Shale, Barnett Shale, Eagle Ford Shale, Bakken Shale and the Beartooth Front in Montana. This work has included air testing, and utilizing the GasFindIR camera to locate fugitive emissions. This work has changed the discussion, and helped the people and small communities in all of these areas.
Another great accomplishment is that we sent ShaleTest board member John Fenton to training on the GasFindIR. John has taken a particular interest in the camera, and the knowledge that he has gained is invaluable. We were able to send John to this training through the generosity of many that gave through a crowdfunding initiative.
So as you can see ShaleTest is still operating quite well. Some faces have changed and the areas that we work have expanded. One thing that hasn’t changed is that we have more requests for testing than we can fill. It is only through generosity of others that we can function at all, and I personally want to thank you for that generosity.
